When You Show Up For Yoga
A Note of Gratitude from Ainslie
I have been reflecting a lot on the lineage of yoga. Each time we step onto our mat, we step into the footprints of all the yogis who came before us. All the people who took the time to pass on this knowledge.
A few years ago, I began working with an elderly yoga student who had practiced yoga for many years (for longer than I have been alive!). Her body was ravaged by Parkinson’s disease, but she smiled as she went through her Pranayama exercises. As I watched her move from posture to posture, I saw the yoga practice that lived inside her. I asked her about all the yoga legends she studied with over the years.
Our conversations taught me that it’s not just the teachers that pass down the magic of yoga. The yoga students are essential to keeping the tradition of yoga alive. Thank you for showing up day after day. When you show up for yourself, you show up for yoga.
